talks to fish

this morning, Twu walked Zack to the beach and called me to let me know the waves were firing..after coffee and a quick facebook comment I put on a still wet from yesterday suit and ran down to the wall

when he was finished, i walked out to the edge of the wall where we jump off when the water is high enough. i won't do flips, in fact i'm too chicken to stand, so i sat on the wall, put on my fins and waited for the waves to be just right.

a cute redheaded girl, maybe about 6 years old, stood next to me, she was there with her mom watching the surfers. she asked me if i was going to jump in the water, and i told her yes. i got into a short discussion with her mom, who works as an OB doc, (not on the island unfortunately) about having babies and surfing during pregnancy .

a good wave washed up and i jumped..i heard the girl gasp ..when i surfaced i heard her tell her mom she wanted to learn to do that. i smiled back at her and waved. she says..do you see the fish, do you see the fish? i said, yes sweetie I can talk to them. she looked so excited..she shouted down at me, what did they say???? and i said..they are telling you to come on in the water :)
